Leo the Lion – 24 gigs in 24 hours – 11/12th July

As a member of The Streets, singer Leo Ihenacho – christened ‘Leo the Lion’ by Mike Skinner – was no stranger to life on the road. But on July 11 2012 he’ll attempt to squeeze the gruelling rigours of a 24-show tour into a single day as he embarks on 24:24 in support of The Prince’s Trust.

Kicking off with an iconic show aboard the London Eye, Leo’s band will then perform inside the London Dungeons, aboard a RIB boat as it bounces down the Thames, in a prison cell in South London and even at Smithfield’s meat market whilst Leo battles with rush hour traffic, pre-Olympic road closures, costume changes and drummer tantrums to complete his task within the 24-hour time limit.

If this wasn’t a challenge enough, Leo promises that every show will be different and he has some special guests joining his band at various locations. And if he succeeds in all this, he’ll close the ‘tour’ with a star-studded final performance at London’s swanky (TBC) Club – taking to the stage before the clock strikes 8pm on July 12th.

Fans will be able to keep track of Leo’s movements, see behind the scenes footage (such as soundchecks in the back of taxis), find out which celebs are lending support along the way and  watch every single gig as it happens via the new social networking concept site sprkle.com (as well as through Facebook and Twitter). Fans will also be able to win tickets to the finale party and collect fabulous freebies along the route.

All Leo’s shows will be completely free for fans to enjoy at Sprkle.com but he’ll be encouraging his audience to donate to The Prince’s Trust via his JustTextGiving account – which they can do simply by texting “LION82” and a figure in pounds, to 70070 (so, to donate £3 simply text “LION82 £3”). There is no charge for the texts so 100% of the donation goes to the charity.

Leo says “, I’m excited: it’s gonna be one hell of a long day…”
