With over 40,000 festival goers over the 3 days, there was a huge buzz about this year’s Terraneo Festival.
Set in an old army barracks a short drive from the Croatian port of Zadar, Terraneo boasted sunshine, beach parties, amazing cocktails and a line up including The Prodigy, Aloe Blacc, Azaelea Banks, Wu Tang Clan, My Bloody Valentine and many more big international names – plus a Red Bull Music Academy stage to boot.
On the first night headliners The Prodigy performed a two hour set in front of an audience of 15,000 – you might recall they asked for oxygen on their rider and it was clear that they needed it after such an epic show.
Day two saw My Bloody Valentine bring a different vibe – and a set performed at 120 db! After waking up from twenty years of discographical sleep, the uncompromising shoegaze pioneers kept all of Šibenik awake with their performance. The first rows were reserved for the brave and the rest of the audience listened to the concert from a safer distance. Their unique yet beautiful appearance ended in a ten-minute psychedelic ending enjoyed by all those who expected a dose of true alternative rock from Terraneo.
My Bloody Valentine were followed by an excellent performance of the equally eclectic band with a lag for electronic music called Pinkunoizu. The second evening of the festival, Rob Garza closed the main stage with his deep house DJ set. After a great performance last year with Thievery Corporation. Garza returned to Šibenik and reaffirmed that Terraneo become his new favorite summer festival.
The festival closed with the full Wu Tang line up – all eight of them – onstage. Wu’s manager tweeted afterwards what a great show it was and how much they loved Croatia.
