Best known for medics and professionals, the Marylebone district was possibly only the place to spot celebs if they were getting botox or IVF… But now, says Linda Plant (the interior decorator whose own client list boasts royalty and A listers) it is becoming the playground for rock stars and actors.
‘Byron actually lived in the area,’ says Linda ‘,and ‘Yesterday’ was written in an apartment here… Obviously now Madonna lives just up the road but this space has some fabulously austere buildings which are just being snapped up by artists and musicians.’
Once such location is a recent development property on Devonshire Place – over the road from the Royal Philatalic Society. ‘We’ve added a few nods to the area in the design’ says Linda ‘, some of the feature wallpaper has stamps on it and we have busts as well as decorative paperbacks and fun details like old fashioned gobstoppers… But it’s all super luxe.’
Linda is available for interviews or guest columns and happy to share design tips. For more information please contact Caitlin@raw-material.co.uk
