The #NationalSmileTransformation launches today with Elleven and Lewis Moody

This National Smile Month, award-winning dental practice, Elleven, is launching a campaign to put the smile back on someone’s face.

Having transformed the smiles of many through pioneering cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics, the team at Elleven want to extend their service to one individual who needs it most, free of charge.

Elleven, located in the heart of London’s West End, has an exclusive client base who demand the best in modern dentistry.  However, the partners have also travelled to the more remote parts of the world to provide dental relief to those who don’t have access to any form of dentistry and now feel a commitment to bring this closer to home.

To be launched on 20th May 2013, the first day of the British Dental Health Foundation’s National Smile Month, The National Smile Transformation will see Elleven offering one person a full smile design.

The team at Elleven understand that there are many reasons that someone could have lost their ability to smile confidently and often these are incredibly personal stories.  We are kindly asking you to share your story, so we can understand your journey and what it would mean to have a smile transformation.

Dr Sameer Patel, Clinical Director at Elleven explains, “Our team shares an inherent desire to apply our skills for the benefit of those who need it most, and this drives us to do charity dental work year after year. Too often we see people who are living in dental pain, with a smile they desperately try to hide and no way of funding the treatment to make it better.  The National Smile Transformation is our way to reach out to someone and to change the way they see themselves.”

Perhaps you have had your teeth knocked out from a sporting accident, have never visited a dentist, your teeth have been affected by medical treatment or you have simply inherited some wonky teeth – Elleven understands your suffering and are here to help.

If you would like to apply yourself or would like to nominate a friend or relative, please send two photos of the current smile – one from the front and one from the side – together with up to 300 words explaining why you/they would benefit from the smile transformation by email to

After 20th June (the official end of National Smile month), the team at Elleven will choose the 11 finalists and announce these on their facebook page – on 11th July including a photo and the story  behind the smile for each person.  There will then be a chance for the public to vote on who they would like to win (until 11th August). After that date the top five will all be invited for a full clinical check at Elleven, before being judged by the expert panel and the winner selected in early September.  The panel includes Dr Shivani Patel, Clinical and Award Winning Orthodontist at Elleven, Professor Tim Newton, Professor of Psychology as Applied to Dentistry at King’s College London Dental Institute and Lewis Moody OBE, former England Rugby captain.

The Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, Dr Nigel Carter OBE comments, “I’m delighted that Elleven has joined the many schools, workplaces, health professionals and dental practices in engaging with National Smile Month.  It is a great reflection of local community spirit and an excellent way to promote good oral health.

As far as day-to-day oral health goes, our three key messages: Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes using fluoride toothpaste, cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks and visit your dentist as often as they recommend, provide a firm base for a lifetime of good oral health. By offering the chance for somebody to recapture their smile, Elleven can get more people thinking about their oral health, after all, a smile is a wonderful thing and worth maintaining.”
