The Designerbabies play a unique breed of rock with electronic inserts that manage to stray light years away from most of today’s indie-electro acts, boasting an uncommon variety of melodic and groovy solutions, yet providing instantly catchy tunes. The band’s first EP FAVOURITE ENEMY was recorded by engineer Jasper Irnt (Flemming Rasmussen, Greg Kurstin, Coolio, Lily Allen, Pink) and mastered by Sam John (Maximo Park, Aphex Twin, Chemical Brothers, Pendulum). The recordings demonstrate their energy, and reaches a good balance between upfront rawness and laid back musicality plus an electronic edge.
Izo FitzRoy & The Royal Bastards
Izo FitzRoy & The Royal Bastards are piano based pop, rock and soul trio who have been gigging around London for the last couple of years. Already selected as ‘The Guardian’s Young Composer of the Year’, it was only when Izo made her way to Glasgow that her musical character really began to emerge. With a voice distinctly reminiscent of Janis Joplin, Izo charms audiences with her lyrical wit and sharp social observations, her distinctive song writing style setting her apart from her musical peers
Sultry female-fronted four-piece, The Velvetines, having just released their debut single ‘Without Me’ the band was founded of an artistic partnership between two fiery sisters, the Velvetines have developed a big stir in the North London scene that over the last two years has become their home turf. After enlisting the help of Gorrillaz and Dandy Warhols producer Fran Ashcroft, their new material is set to raise the bar in Pop/Rock circles throughout the capital and beyond.
